FOR THE WEEK THAT I AM AWAY

Hi everyone,
I hope that you have a good week I will miss you but will try to drown my sorrows in rides in the sunshine of Florida. Here is some information about the things that you are going to be doing. If you have any questions please send me an email...I will have some WIFI coverage.

All 3 days you are going to be in the library. All of the links that you need are on the blog under INTERNAL PROCESSES.

These are the assignments that you need to complete. I have broken them up my day as an idea of when I hope that you will complete them to stay on track.

TUESDAY NOVEMBER 18 you will have a quiz on Volcanoes in class. This will allow you to ask me any questions on the Monday when I am back from the trip.

November 12: 1) Types of volcanoes chart. When you do this please make sure that you use vocabulary that you understand. Describing a volcano using terms you don't know does not actually help you to understand it. When drawing your diagram, use as much detail as possible....HINT HINT....Asking you to draw and explain one of the types of volcanoes would be a great test question.
2) Volcanic Hazards. You will need to again complete the chart. AGAIN make sure you use words that you understand. Having a good knowledge of these hazards will help you will the next section of your volcano research. The question at the end....Please make sure that you form an opinion on this as you will share it with the class on Monday. There is no right or wrong answer here.

November 13: 1) FINISH THE THINGS FROM YESTERDAY
2) Which volcano is the most dangerous?
-You are going to start by researching the three volcanoes listed on your sheet. ALL THREE of these volcanoes are very dangerous, and have impacts on the surrounding populations. Complete the graphic organizer. You will look at how often the volcano erupts? The type of volcano and therefore HOW it erupts. You also need to research the surrounding area: Is the volcano in the middle of nowhere? Is it near a big city? Is it a poor area? rich area?
-Once you have researched the three volcanoes you need to decide which one you think is the most dangerous to the surrounding area. THERE IS NO RIGHT ANSWER HERE. You can argue that any of the three is super dangerous because they are. Whichever one you pick you just need to make sure that you support why you picked it....Use information you have already researched.
-Once you are done writing your paragraph please email it to me at kenkel_m@surreyschools.ca

November 14: Make sure that EVERYTHING is finished for Monday. I will see you then in the library.
